Day One started off with the same issue I had last year - WHAT TO DRAW. I felt way more confident about my skills and I could see my style had developed a lot since last year but I still didn't have a subject matter that inspired me. I ended up doing a portrait of Kendal Hanna who I've been animating for a client project the past few weeks. When it was done it kinda felt like a no brainer. Like, OF COURSE I should have drawn Kendal, instead of forcing myself into a new subject matter for no reason.
So this year is going to be about trusting the ideas that are already in my head, developing my imagination and spending more time drawing than wondering what to draw. I'm also limiting myself to using liquid ink instead of pens. I've never been much of a painter so I'm excited to work with something new and maybe even experiment with application, using different utensils instead of just a paint brush.
Yaaaaaaaaay let's go!
